Exam week

Greetings everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and have remembered to turn you clocks back 1 hr. I also hope you are all reading through your notes and that your studies are going well. Last week we finished our discussion on forming the Solar System and on Thursday we reviwed for your exam, which is Wednesday 1 November. Do not be late, please. Your exam is essay and I will dictate the questions to your orally, thus if you are late you many get a completely different set of questions from eveyone else. I think I will ask 4 questions with 1 extra credit question, but I am not completely confident just yet.

Do not forget that tomorrow is your laboratory class. We will discuss the progress of your projects tomorrow. Presentations will begin on 20 November.

Homework: Go to the following web site, http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/db_shm?sstr=6761&group=all&search=Search
Then tell me the exact location of asteroid 6761 Haroldconnolly (1981 EV19) on 23 Nov 2006 with respect to how far away from the Earth and the Sun will the astroid be located. Also tell me what is the spectral class of the asteroid. Before you ask, yes it is named in honor of your professor. Write this information down in your notebooks. If I ask for it in class, I will give you time to write it onto other paper that can be handed in.

Once again, no one has given me the total correct answer to the following question: Who were Phobos and Deimos?
